Introspection goes beyond recalling the things that happened in a day, week, or month.
It is about looking within and reflecting on your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations. Trying to understand why you felt a certain way when something was said or done to arouse your emotions beyond the normal is not easy but it is definitely worth the trouble it takes.
Make it a regular thing to examine your experiences, the decisions you make, the relationships you have, and the things you engage in. Believe it or not this will provide you with useful insights on your life goals, on the good traits you need to sustain and the bad traits you would be better off discarding.
Once you understand why you react in a certain way hopefully you will be able to control your reactions when suddenly in the midst of such a situation.
Like any skill, introspection can be learned; it takes courage and the willingness to seek the truths that lie within you. No matter what you find remember to be objective, be forgiving of yourself, and focus on your areas for improvement.
Sometimes what is behind a reaction is hidden deep where we have buried it in order to try and forget. On the surface it appears to have worked but on an emotional level the problem remains until it is healed and forgiven.
You are not alone, please remember that, and if you need evidence then take a look around you when other people react to what you would consider a situation where such a reaction was not called for!! We are all struggling to rid ourselves of our own demons, self doubt, pity, or something else, no matter what it is the only way to release it is through looking deep within the very essence of our soul by taking note of our reactions to life.
If you take this on please let me know how you get on, or if you need help in any way get back to me I will do my best to help.
